Solid state controls can be configured in multiple zones to regulate larger heaters or several smaller heaters with one knob. Each zone can have a maximum of 40 amps continuous load (9,000 watts maximum, per zone). The zones can be configured in any combination of heaters, as long as they are all the same wattage and do not exceed 9,000 watts per zone (three 3,000 watt heaters, four 2,000 watt heaters, two 4,000 watt heaters, one 6,000 watt, one 8,000 watt, etc.)
The remote control system consists of a main control panel, with the
solid state relays, heat sinks and fused heater protection. This is a
NEMA 4/12 enclosure intended to be installed in a utility closet, or
near pool equipment, in the garage, etc. This box switches the high
voltage load, and the heaters are wired directly to it. Panels may be recessed however the panel requires a minimum 4" of ventilation space around the box.
The 2nd piece of the system is the remote control. This is designed to
be built into a wall near the heaters and connected to the main panel
with low voltage wiring. One twisted pair for each remote control
zone. 1 amp of 120V is also required to power each remote. The
installer may tie into an adjacent house hold circuit to provide this
power.
